Yahoo Taiwan offers new email domain name in attempt to stem spam

Yahoo Kimo (Yahoo Taiwan) on August 4 stated it will be offering a new domain name (@kimo.com) available for users of its service to register a new e-mail account. The new account is designed to be used only for email.

The company commented that because previous email accounts (@yahoo.kimo.com.tw) were used for a number of other services, including online auctions, besides email, there have been a number of cases where a user's account was used to forward spam. Yahoo Kimo currently has 9.26 million e-mail users, the company indicated.

Yahoo in June 2008 offered two new global domain names, @ymail.com and @rocketmail.com. The @kimo.com domain is the first domain name issued by Yahoo specifically for accounts in Taiwan.
